Importance of your Homepage

The homepage is your company's face to the world and as such is the most important page on your website. Increasingly, potential customers will look at your company's online presence before doing business with you. Improving your homepage multiplies the entire website's business value, so following key guidelines for homepage usability is well worth the investment.

Branding

The look and feel of your site is all driven by your branding. When you get a website built it can often be the first time you have had a chance to sit down and plan your branding and colour scheme. Alternatively, it may be a good time to refresh your current branding. The following tips should help you create a dynamic new look for your business and your site.

Think about what style you want:

Contemporary, Artistic, Business oriented, Futuristic etc. Write down addresses of websites that have design that you like and that seem to match the style you are after. You could even save the logos to your computer (use right-click 'save picture') and view them all in a slide presentation to help.

  • make a final choice on what you like.
  • What are you trying to portray?
  • What aspects of your business do you want your website to fulfil?
  • Keep your design simple
