If your website is in need of a bit of TLC, we’ve got five suggestions that can help boost your online presence that won’t cost the earth. In fact, most are free!

1.Guest bloggers

Variety is the spice of life, so if you do blog on your site mix it up a little with some guest writers. They don’t have to be famous, but it would help if they have a background or some success in the area they are blogging about. The result is new and unique content for your site while the guest blogger gets a platform and some traffic to their own site. Remember, you could become a guest blogger too! www.websites.bt.com/latest-news-guides/item/54-get-featured-on-our-blog.html

2.Don’t be anti-social (networking, that is!)

Social networking is a great way to engage with your customers. There are plenty out there but it is important that you pick wisely. There’s no point having accounts with six sites if you only have time to update one or two, so take a look at your options and pick the ones that suit you and your business best. Facebook business pages are a handy free tool that, when kept up to date with offers, news and relevant information, can be a great way to engage with your customers and link them back to your website and content. Twitter is another useful site that allows you to update people quickly and drive them back to your website with blog articles, news and special offers. Keep them updated and get involved, it’s important that you talk to people as well as promote your business. People want to buy from people, so take a few minutes to have a natter. It’s fun, honest!

3. Make the most of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

When you built your site and populated it with copy, it should have been SEO-ready. SEO is the method of using key words that search engines like Google and Yahoo look for when someone searches the internet. By using the right words you’ll appear higher up the Google rankings, for example, and increase the chances of surfers finding you. 4.Get mobile

There has never been so many ways to contact potential customers. Text messages, mobile updates and interaction with smart phones offer a whole new world of digital marketing potential for your products and services. Use them to tap into one the largest growing sectors of the marketing biz.

5.Start spreading the news

As your client list or customer base grows, encourage them to visit your site with a regular digital newsletter. The key factor is including items designed to engage your audience and get them visiting your site (use embedded links to the particular product pages). New products or special offers could do the trick of prompting a quick look at your site. But whatever your news or features make sure the emphasis is on visiting your pages online.
